Arduino DUE Microcontroller Board

Arduino Microcontroller Board
DFROBOT

The Arduino DUE is the newcomer microcontroller board in the Arduino boards family. It's the first board based on a 32 bit ARM core processor, the Atmel SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 MCU, that improve all the standard Arduino functionalities and add more new features.

NOTE : To compile code for the ARM processor, you'll need the latest version of the Arduino IDE: v1.5.

Arduino DUE board

The Arduino DUE is the new microcontroller card of the Arduino card family. It is the first board based on a 32-bit ARM central processor, the Atmel SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 MCU, which enhances all the standard features of Arduino and adds new functions.

Arduino DUE

The Arduino DUE has :

  • 54 digital input/output pins (12 of which can be used as PWM outputs)
  • 12 analog inputs
  • 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports)
  • An 84 MHz clock
  • One USB-OTG connection
  • 2 DAC (digital to analog)
  • 2 TWI
  • A power outlet
  • An SPI header
  • A JTAG header
  • A reset button
  • A delete button
  • There are also interesting features such as DAC, audio, DMA, an experimental multitasking library and many more.

The DUE has two USB connectors, the one with the AB micro-usb connector is the native connector capable of acting as a USB host, which means you can connect compatible external USB devices to the card, such as a mouse, keyboard, smartphone. While the other USB port with the type B connector is for debugging.

Notes :

  • To compile the ARM processor code, you will need the latest version of the Arduino IDE: v1.5.
  • Unlike other Arduino boards, the Arduino DUE board runs at 3.3V. The maximum voltage that the I/O pins can tolerate is 3.3V. Supplying higher voltages, such as 5V to an I/O pin could damage the board.

Arduino DUE board : Specification

  • Microcontroller AT91SAM3X8E
  • Operating voltage 3.3V
  • Input voltage (recommended) 7-12V
  • Input voltage (limits) 6-20V
  • Digital I/O pins 54 (12 of which provide PWM output)
  • Analog input pins 12
  • Analog outputs pin 2 (DAC)
  • Total DC output current on all I/O lines 130 mA
  • DC current for 3.3V Pin 800 mA
  • DC current for 5V Pin 800 mA
  • 512 KB Flash Memory all available for user applications
  • SRAM 96 KB (64 + 32 KB)
  • Clock Speed 84 MHz
