Robot Advance and the Hackathon Magic Makers 2018

News Robotic

This year will be the first Hackathon Magic Makers on December 15, 2018 in Paris. A coding and programming contest for 6th and 5th grade students. This first edition will host an exceptional jury and will take place in the prestigious Saint Louis de Gonzague-Franklin establishment, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.

For this competition, no need to know how to code since during the month of November, the teams will receive a 3-session coaching by a Magic Makers facilitator, organizer of the Hackathon working with the establishment for more than 3 years. These coaching sessions will take place in the teams' facilities and will allow them to master the 3 technologies used during the competition.

What is the Magickathon?

Hackathon Magic Makers Paris 2018

The Hackathon is a new competition in which 5th and 6th grade students will have to create and code a program themselves. The proposed theme for the first year of the competition will be superheroes. A great way to further integrate coding and programming in schools, a passion shared by Robot Advance, who is sponsoring this first edition of the contest.

The Hackathon will be held in teams of 4 and will last one day at the end of which the teams will have to make a pitch to present their program. The best achievements will be awarded a prize to reward the students but also their class, teachers and school.

A programming competition in one of the best high schools in France

The Saint Louis school complex in Gonzague-Franklin was not chosen by chance for this first building of the Hackaton. The objective here is to promote programming but also innovation within the entire French school system. The excellence of Saint Louis de Gonzague-Franklin perfectly meets these objectives since it came first in the ranking of the best high schools in France in 2018, with 88% of very good marks in the Bac S and 99.4% of marks in the brevet.

Laurent Poupard, director of Saint-Louis de Gonzague, has been actively working for several years to put the learning of the code at the heart of his offer of extracurricular activities.
