This innovative linear actuator transforms the circular movement of a 180 degree servo (supplied) into a straight movement in one direction and then the other. It can be attached to a project and move horizontally or vertically.

Linear actuators are useful for a wide range of applications including robotics, automatic button switching, steering racks for buggies, a model railway switch, diorama animation, etc. Linear actuators are also widely used in industrial and consumer items, including valves, cams, floppy disk drives and optical disc drives, to name a few.

The linear actuator is made from 5mm clear blue Perspex sheet, which is also used in our Klaw servo-powered clamp. At each end of the rack there are a variety of mounting holes, including a 3mm hole, a 3mm square, and typical servo horn holes suitable for wire (1mm diameter), and it has approximately 20mm of movement. It has a gear ratio of 2:3, and the associated servo has a stall torque of 1.5kg/cm at 6V and 1.3kg at 4.8V.
