The MatataStudio Sensor Add-On is an extension for the Coding Set, featuring a controller with a built-in microphone, colour, distance and light sensors for 10 detection functions, plus 12 six-colour LEDs and message blocks for multiplayer games.
The ‘wait until’ block makes the robot react to detected conditions, making it ideal for relay races, coded football and personalised LED stories.
The MatataStudio Sensor Add-On is an extension for the Coding Set that adds a controller equipped with four built-in sensors: a microphone, a colour sensor, a distance sensor and a light sensor. Together, they cover 10 detection functions: high or low light levels, presence or absence of an obstacle, sound detection, detection of red, green and yellow colours, button press and module shake. The ‘wait until’ coding block allows the MatataBot to remain stationary until the condition set by the selected sensor is met, before executing the next command. Two yellow blocks for sending and receiving messages allow several robots to communicate on the same channel for multiplayer games such as a relay race or a football match. Purple blocks control the 12 LEDs built into the controller, each with 6 colours, either individually or all together.
MatataStudio Sensor Add-On, 10 sensor functions, message blocks for multiplayer games, 12 LEDs with 6 colours each, and a ‘wait until’ block for the Coding Set.
Children programme their MatataBot to stop as soon as the distance sensor detects an obstacle, or to move forward only when the microphone picks up a sound. With two robots set to the same communication channel, they organise a relay race where the first robot sends a signal to the second to trigger its start. At the same time, they customise the controller’s 12 LEDs to give their coded story a visual identity, either by choosing a different colour for each light or by synchronising them all together.
