Lego Education Wedo 2.0

Lego WeDo 2.0 is part of the Lego Education series, launched in 2016, that is to say, it is a kit specifically designed for classroom learning. Lego WeDo 2.0 offers Lego educational solutions. Kids in elementary (from 7 years old) can practice algorithmic logic and the ability to solve a problem by assembling toys in class.

This kit mixes 276 Lego classic bricks and 4 electronic bricks to give life to the Lego creations:

• 1 WeDo 2.0 Smarthub
• 1 Medium Motor
• 1 Motion sensor
• 1 Tilt sensor

These 4 bricks are controlled from a mobile application via BLE or on PC and Mac.

A Lego WeDo2.0 kit is designed for 16 default projects and for 2 students. Inside the kit, we will find the pedagogical resources, so that teachers can help their students to discover the robotic world.

​Lego Boost

While Lego Boost is the latest range of Lego released in summer 2017. It combines construction and robotics, the aim is being to introduce children from the age of 7 years old to the basic notions of computer programming and robotics. It is a range intended for the general public. With a single Lego Boost kit, children can create 5 basic models. This kit includes 840 Lego bricks as well as 3 Boost blocks. These 3 Boost pieces are at the heart of this range that introduces to the programming:

• 1 Move Hub allowing BLE connection, includes two encoded motors, activation button, internal tilt sensors and a light
• 1 interactive Motor is an encoded motor
• 1 Color & Distance Sensor allowing to detect distance, motion and color and can function as a light

Lego Boost bricks are considered as the more advanced version of those in LegoWe Do2.0, since Lego Boost is Lego's new product in 2017. On the other hand, the basic concept remains the same.

The Lego Boost range is fully digital. These Lego Boost creations are totally controlled and coming to life from a tablet application on IOS and Android. The same for the instruction guide, only a digital version is provided in this kit and available on the same application.

However, the emphasis of these two ranges is on the introduction of the basics of programming and robotics in a fun way through constructions of Lego toys. By using their specific application, children can bring their creations to life with icon-based drag-and-drop coding interface that interprets the computer language. The final mission is to make kids sensitive to STEM world.
